Positive: Huge shout out to Mary who contacted me before we got there and helped get us settled. McCarthy is a unique place and getting to and from the cabins can be tough, but not with Mary! She picked us up from just over the bridge and we could reach her at any time (Verizon only!). She not only put us in a great cabin to accommodate our son, but also made sure to take care of our bags while we got a last hike in. She made our experience great. I know the bathrooms seemed like an issue, but they were fine. Going to McCarthy means you're off the grid and even for city people like us the bathrooms were clean and usable.
