A private dock and seasonal mooring buoy make it simple to bring your boat (dock and mooring buoy installed approximately May 1–October 1). Launch a provided kayak at sunrise across glass-calm water, then wade into the gentle, sandy entry while the kids build castles on the large sandy beach. Wind down at the lakeside fire pit with s’mores or a glass of wine as the sky fades to tangerine, swap stories in the Adirondack chairs, and fall asleep to the gentle sounds of the lake—this is Houghton Lake at its best!

The open living/dining area lets the kids hang out or play upstairs while dinner simmers below. This is a corner-lot home in a lakefront neighborhood with one close neighbor next door and many full-time residents nearby—guests are expected to be mindful and respectful of the community during their stay. An electronic lock makes for smooth self-check-in, and guests will need to provide their own firewood for the fire pit. We give guests their space but are available if you need anything.
